Ingrowing toenails

There are two different kinds of ingrowing toenail. The first is an apparently normal looking toe which causes a great degree of pain. The sufferer often complains that the toenail is more painful in bed than when wearing a shoe. The cause is usually a corn under the edge of the toenail, primarily the big toenail. Treatment is virtually pain free and can be completed in a half hour treatment.

The other type of ingrowing toenail is a painful and often septic nail. This generally affects the big toenail but can also affect the lesser toes. Treatments are varied for this condition and may sometimes be a little uncomfortable however, we generally work together establishing trust to achieve a satisfactory result. Occasionally minor surgery is needed which will permanently free the sufferer from pain.

Occasionally ingrowing nails (not usually septic ones) can be greatly helped by the use of a nail brace. Nowadays this is a simple and painfree procedure to superglue a brace to the toenail to train its growth away from the borders where it causes problems it is generally very successful and permanent.
